Chain reaction: Help Kellogg and Walmart fight hunger

As a global food company, we are passionate about doing our part to make sure there is enough food for everyone. Our longstanding commitment to feed people in need helps fulfill our commitment to nourish with our foods and honors the legacy of our founder, W.K. Kellogg, one of the foremost philanthropists of the 20th century.

Today, hunger is real in America: 1 in 8 people struggle with it. According to the USDA, more than 15 million American children go to school hungry.

We can make a meaningful impact – and we are – through Breakfasts for Better Days, our global signature philanthropic cause. As part of our goal to help create 3 billion Better Days for people around the world, we’ve committed to donating 2.5 billion servings of food by 2025 to people in need. We also will expand our breakfast programs to reach two million more children.

But hunger is not a fight that we can win on our own.

Our retailers are the gateway to our consumers – they have a direct relationship with shoppers. That’s why Kellogg is proud to partner in Walmart’s “Fight Hunger, Spark Change” campaign, which runs online and in Walmart’s U.S. stores until May 15.

The campaign is a perfect example of how much more we can accomplish by fighting hunger together. Until May 15, we’re encouraging shoppers to purchase specially marked Kellogg foods. With each item, our company will donate the monetary equivalent of one meal (up to $1.8 million) to Feeding America.

In addition, you can participate in Walmart’s “Fight Hunger, Spark Change” campaign by:

 - Using your social feed to #FightHunger on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to generate donations for Feeding America, and use the unique Snapchat filter in select stores

 - Donating to local Feeding America food banks at the register and online

Today, more than ever, we can use our collective purchasing power and social media influence to raise awareness and ensure fewer people go hungry. Please join us.
