Kellogg Company announces investment in Battle Creek’s BCGo

Kellogg donates $150,000 to the City of Battle Creek’s on-demand mobility service

Battle Creek, Mich., June 13, 2022 – Kellogg Company announced today a $150,000 investment in the City of Battle Creek’s on-demand mobility service, BCGo, to purchase two new vehicles.

BCGo is an on-demand transportation system in Calhoun County, operated by Battle Creek Transit, a department of the City of Battle Creek, and collaborating agencies. To date, BCGo has provided more than 9,700 trips to more than 10,600 passengers and has received over 42,000 trip requests.

"This investment by Kellogg gives us the ability to purchase (two) new accessible minivans for our BCGo mobility pilot, helping to ensure access to employment, medical care and food, to name a few,” said Rebecca Fleury, City Manager, City of Battle Creek. “Our current vehicles have each traveled over 50,000 miles during our 14 months of operation. This capital investment ensures that we can continue to provide safe, reliable, and affordable transportation to the residents of Calhoun County.”

BCGo offers a demand-responsive transit platform that allows users to book trips straight from their phones using the BCGo App. The platform dynamically routes BCGo’s two vehicles throughout the service area based on real-time passenger demand to maximize ridership and minimize wasted miles. Passengers that want to book their trip in advance get a truly guaranteed, pre-booked ride.

“As a good corporate citizen, we’re pleased to continue to support our hometown of Battle Creek, Mich. and BCGo as part of our commitment to create Better Days for 3 billion people by the end of 2030,” said Steve Cahillane, Chairman and CEO, Kellogg Company. “Our vision is a good and just world where people are not just fed but fulfilled and investing in BCGo aligns with our vision by helping residents of Calhoun County safely and reliably navigate through their community.”
