Kellogg South Africa Celebrates Mandela Day with 67 Minutes of Volunteerism

Kellogg South Africa employees observed Mandela Day on July 18 by volunteering at a FoodForward SA food drive packing event, promoting Kellogg’s™ Better Days Promise to advance sustainable and equitable food for all.

In 2009, former South Africa President Nelson Mandela called on those who wanted to honor him on his birthday to do so by using 67 minutes of their time to help their communities, in appreciate of the 67 years that he spent fighting for justice, equality and human rights for all.

Kellogg employees packed food and our company also donated food to support hunger efforts.

One third of food produced in South Africa goes to a landfill, while more than 14 million people suffer from hunger. FoodForward SA connects a world of excess to a world of need by recovering surplus food from the consumer goods supply chain and distributing it to community organizations.

FoodForward SA promotes 11 of the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
