Kellogg Company Fund deploys Breakfasts for Better Days disaster relief team to Arkansas communities impacted by tornadoes

Battle Creek, Mich., April 30, 2014 – Kellogg Company Fund, the company’s charitable arm, is deploying its Breakfasts for Better Days™ disaster relief team to provide food assistance to those impacted by devastating tornadoes in Arkansas.

More than 100 tornadoes and severe storms caused widespread destruction across the Midwest on Sunday, April 27, with the communities of Mayflower and Vilonia, Arkansas, receiving significant damage. In response, Kellogg will deploy its mobile disaster relief team to provide breakfast services and deliver food to the people of the communities hardest hit.

Additionally, as part of the company’s Breakfasts for Better Days™ commitment, Kellogg is also sending six semitrailers full of Kellogg’s food to Feeding America food banks in the impacted area to assist residents of the broader region impacted by the storms.

Disaster relief efforts such as this are part of Kellogg Company’s Breakfasts for Better DaysTM goal to provide 1 billion servings of cereal and snacks, more than half of which are breakfast, to those who in need by 2016.

In 2013, the company also deployed its disaster relief team to communities hit by a devastating tornado in Moore, Okla., in May, to flooded neighborhoods in Colorado in September, and to parts of the Midwest following more than 60 tornadoes in November.

Kellogg strives to make a difference in communities around the world. Since 2009, the company has contributed more than $67 million in cash and $153 million in products to charitable organizations around the world. In 2013 alone, Kellogg contributed $13 million in cash and $48 million in product.
