Kellogg Company Fund Deploys Breakfasts For Better Days Mobile Disaster Relief Team in Response to Texas Floods

Battle Creek, Mich., May 29, 2015 – Kellogg Company Fund, the charitable arm of Kellogg Company, is deploying its Breakfasts for Better Days™ mobile disaster relief team to provide breakfast services for residents in the Texas communities hardest hit by record-setting rains and widespread flooding.

The heaviest flooding occurred in the Houston and Austin metro areas, as well as Harris, Caldwell and Hays counties, and the City of Wimberley – resulting in thousands of homes and businesses damaged or destroyed.

The Kellogg team plans to begin distributing cereal and snacks to residents and relief workers on Monday.

“We are saddened by the tragic loss of life in Texas. Our thoughts are with those impacted by the flooding,” said Kris Charles, vice president, global communications and philanthropy, Kellogg Company. “Our mobile disaster relief center will make stops in some of the hardest hit areas to distribute nutritious, ready-to-eat foods to people during this difficult time.”

In addition, the company has provided 800,000 servings of Kellogg’s food, including cereal, bars and snacks, to food banks in Feeding America’s national network. These items will help those in the broader areas impacted by flooding.

Disaster relief efforts such as these are part of Kellogg Company’s Breakfasts for Better DaysTM initiative. In the past two years alone, Kellogg has donated 900 million servings of cereal and snacks, more than half of which were breakfast foods, to children and families in need around the world.
