LAWRENCE PILON TO HEAD HUMAN RESOURCES AT KELLOGG COMPANY

Battle Creek, MI, January 17, 2003 - Lawrence J. Pilon will join Kellogg Company (NYSE: K), effective Jan. 21, as executive vice president, human resources. Pilon most recently served as senior vice president of administration for Whitman Corporation, the number-two anchor bottler in the Pepsi-Cola system.

Pilon has more than 25 years of experience in areas such as executive staffing and succession planning, organization design, management development and compensation.

"During his career with five major corporations, he has made significant contributions to organizational and leadership development."

Pilon has senior management experience in a wide range of industries, including automotive, metals, pharmaceutical distribution and consumer products. His early career experience was with Ford Motor Company, and he went on to serve as chief human resources officer for three large public companies. The Detroit-area native has a bachelor's degree from Michigan State University and a master's of business administration degree from the University of Michigan. He and his family will relocate from Lake Forest, Ill., to the Battle Creek area.
