Company Builds on Whole Grain Success with New Frozen Entrées That Offer
Satisfying Nutrition in Delectable Flavor Combinations

LA JOLLA, Calif. (June 21, 2006) — Kashi Company, the premier natural food products company, today announced it will expand its product assortment of whole grain, ready-to-eat cereals, crackers and granola bars to include all-natural frozen entrées. The new frozen food line is designed to deliver delicious nutrition to today's health-conscious consumers, and represents Kashi's first foray into the frozen food aisle.

"For today's time-starved consumers, frozen foods represent a fast and convenient meal choice; however, there are very few options on the market that provide good nutrition and lasting nourishment," says Jeff Johnson, Kashi brand manager and nutritionist. "Our All-Natural Entrées™ combine wholesome ingredients and a complete balance of fiber, protein and healthy fats to leave you feeling full and fulfilled."

Kashi All-Natural Entrées are naturally flavorful and combine visible textures like large-cut, crisp vegetables, hearty whole grains and generous portions of protein including lean chicken, succulent shrimp and black beans. Consistent with Kashi's existing product offering, the new frozen entrées are all natural and minimally processed to provide a healthy, nutrient-packed, satisfying food experience.

Kashi is launching six 10-oz. entrées in poultry, seafood and vegetarian varieties, including mouth-watering recipes such as Lemon Rosemary Chicken, Chicken Pasta Pomodoro, Black Bean Mango, Sweet & Sour Chicken, Southwest Style Chicken and Lime Cilantro Shrimp. Chicken Pasta Pomodoro features seven whole grain penne pasta while the rest of entrées include Kashi's original pilaf, a unique blend of seven whole grains plus sesame, which was the company's first retail product.

"The pilaf is the cornerstone of Kashi's origins," Johnson notes. "By marrying this product with the frozen entrée line, we have struck a balance between honoring our heritage and extending the Kashi brand into a new category."

Each of the frozen entrées includes only the purest ingredients, such as seasonal vegetables and all-natural, lean chicken, with no additives, preservatives or anything artificial. In addition, Kashi frozen entrées offer a tantalizing experience for people who love food, with bright, appealing colors, unique flavors and intriguing textures.

"We take great care to prepare our entrées using pure methods like marinating and grilling. These preparation techniques retain nutrients while releasing the flavors nature provides. Freezing just locks in the nutritional and flavor goodness," says Johnson.

Kashi's frozen entrées contains 240-380 calories and offers five to seven grams of fiber and eight to 19 grams of protein. In addition, many of the entrées feature additional nutrients, including Vitamin C, Vitamin A and calcium.

"Our entrées were created with the same nutritional mission as our other foods," says Johnson. "The goal was to create delicious and satisfying meals that have the taste, textures and superior nutrition that Kashi consumers enjoy and expect."

The new line will be available at retailers nationwide in July 2006.
